Piano Forte. Community education with a difference for seniors on the Sunshine Coast

Piano Forte is a free public film screening of the play titled ‘Piano Forte’ followed by an interactive discussion panel at Maroochy RSL on the 7th, Caloundra RSL on the 16th and Nambour RSL on the 22nd of August.

‘Piano Forte’ is a fictional drama and is a cautionary tale for seniors. The play was filmed and developed as an educational resource to help engage and empower people to take positive action in safeguarding their future. It’s a must for everyone.

The subject matter is wills, estates, family conflict, future aged support planning and Powers of Attorney – presented with dramatic flair, and will be followed by an informative Q&A discussion panel.

The panel session includes Suncoast Community Legal Service (SCLS), Elder Abuse Prevention Unit (EAPU), Advanced Care Planning from Queensland Health, Public Trustee QLD, Financial Information Service, Department of Human Services and Family and Relationship Counsellors, Case Manager from Relationships Australia QLD.

National Family History Month & SC Seniors Week Combined Open Day

On Saturday 18th August Caloundra Family History will be hosting a National Family History Month & Sunshine Coast Seniors Week Combined Open Day from 10.00am to 3.00pm. This is a great opportunity for those thinking about starting their family history to view our resource facility and how Caloundra Family History Inc. can assist you in learning to research your own family history.

Visitors will be able to talk one-on-one with an experienced researcher. This will help you to plan a course of action for future research, by using the indexed databases and subscription sites we have on our computers.

National Family History Month (NFHM) which is held in Australia every August, an initiative of AFFHO (Australasian Federation of Family History Organisations).

Free morning and afternoon teas have been subsidised by the Queensland Government and supported by COTA Queensland.


Seniors tell their stories

A fun interactive session with a collection of seniors stories, seniors telling their stories, launch of a historical movie of Yandina as Yandina settlement started 150 years ago, light music and refreshments, launch of the Historical Society’s latest edition “Streets and Roads of Yandina” All at the School of Arts hall – a full day event, opposite the Yandina Street Fair.
